Larry Adkisson

Larry was raised in Duncan, Oklahoma at Bible Baptist Church under the ministry of his father. Larry was saved on a Wednesday night in 1953 at the age of seven. In 1968, He married LaRue Adkisson. Upon graduation from Cameron College in Lawton, Oklahoma, Larry was drafted to serve in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He served in the Army for two years. In 1972, Larry went on staff at the Metropolitan Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas; while on staff there he fulfilled various roles including youth pastor, music director, education pastor, and discipleship training. In 1987, Larry went to serve the Lord as a missionary in Mabaloka, South Africa. The Lord greatly blessed their efforts and soon they moved the ministry to the capital city of South Africa, Johannesburg. He served there until 1996 when Metropolitan Baptist Church asked if he would take the pastorate. In his second stint at MBC he served as pastor for 14 years. In March 2011, Larry and LaRue joined Friendship and served as faithful members. At the direction of Pastor Power, Larry became the Associate Pastor of FBC in 2016 and has since taught in our assisted living facilities, visited the ill, along with helping counsel and disciple those who desire to grow in their Christian life.
